ROOT CANAL TREATMENT IN AACHEN
(ENDODONTIA)
The aim of a root canal treatment is to preserve your teeth in the long term. Root canal treatment becomes necessary when teeth are damaged due to various causes. Caries or even accidents can damage teeth to the extent that the nerve inside the tooth dies off. Bacteria enter the jaw via the root canals and cause an inflammation. Due to the inflammation, the bone at the tip of the root is broken down. In the beginning, an inflammation of the root is often painless. As it progresses, the tooth may become very painful, sensitive to touch or even loosen. It is important that it be treated quickly so that the inflammation cannot spread further.

THE PROCEDURE OF CANAL ROOT TREATMENT
A canal root treatment requires a lot of experience, sensitivity, time and an adequately developed technique. During a root canal treatment in Aachen, the root canals of the diseased tooth are cleaned and subsequently sealed. In this step the root canal is cleansed from the inflammatory bacteria. Furthermore, the immediate sealing of the access to the canals with a dentin-adhesive construction is important to prevent reinfection. Even severely diseased teeth can be saved and preserved through root filling, which prevents bone resorption.

EXAMPLE OF A ROOT CANAL TREATMENT
The radiographs of a lower left molar ( in this case even a wisdom tooth 39, which is particularly difficult to treat and serves as a bridge abutment), show that the healing of a cyst (see red arrow), which points to the black structure at the tip of the root, was achieved by root canal treatment alone. In this case, the classic operation for surgical removal of the cyst can often be avoided if the cause of the inflammation, infection via the canals, is eliminated.
